At a dealers meeting
in Florida in
September Jeep
introduced an all new
line up which included
a Jeep pickup truck.
The line up gives
dealers an idea of
what they can expect
in showroom floors
for 2011.
PickupTruck.com
reported that
production of the all
new Jeep truck will begin in the third quarter of 2011 and be branded as a 2012 model.

The new Jeep truck is said to resemble the Gladiator concept truck with side mount
spare that Jeep introduced at the Detroit Auto Show in 2005. The new Jeep truck is
supposedly based on the four-door Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited, but would be a
two-door cab configuration with limited space behind the front row for cargo. What the
power plant will be is anyones guess. The VM Motori 2.8-litre four-cylinder
turbo-diesel engine would be the logical choice since it was used for the original
Gladiator concept and is also used in the J8 read more on the J8 below.
Jeeps foray into a new
Jeep truck is nothing new
and has been in the making
since 2002. Not since the
demise of the Comanche
pickup in 1992 has there
been so much controversy
over a new Jeep Truck.
There may never be a
better time then now for
Jeep to venture back into
the pickup truck market
again. The redesigned
Dodge Ram in 1994 was
impressive to say the least
and Ford soon followed suit with a redesigned truck with a massive grille of their own.
These designs are now outdated and consumers are looking for something new and
exciting in a truck. In addition Ford is planning on ending production of the Ranger
pickup. Jeeps introduction of a mid size pickup to it's line up now would be nothing short
of perfect timing and we welcome it.
Timeline, Jeep first endorsed the American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) Brute Jeep Truck
which was first scene at SEMA 2002 and received DaimlerChrysler's Design Excellence
Award at the time. The AEV Brute Truck Conversion Kit is designed for Wrangler's and
the kit is available directly through American Expedition Vehicles or through Quadratec.

2005 Jeep introduced the Gladiator concept truck at the Detroit Auto Show to rave
reviews. The concept Gladiator is powered by a 2.8-liter, 4-cylinder common-rail turbo
diesel engine that provides 163 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Consumers love it but the
truck is never produced.

In 2008 Jeep began manufacturing the J8 truck which is a long wheel based Wrangler
truck that is exported for military use in other countries. The powerplant is a VM Motori
2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. Recently the J8 was also used as the base for
the NuKizer 715 that was introduced in Moab earlier this year and received rave reviews.
Our readers at JeepTruck.com would also like to see the NuKizer truck go into
production as well. It's a great looking truck and would be allot of fun both on and
off-road.

2008 Jeep JT Wrangler concept truck makes an appearance at Easter Jeep Safari at
Moab. The JT Jeep Truck is built from a JK and is said to sport a bed from a J8 and
some parts from American Expedition Vehicles. The power plant was a Stock 3.8L V-6

April 2010 Jeep introduces the NuKizer 715 at Easter Jeep Safari in Moab. The
NuKizer 715 is also based on the J8 see our article on the NuKizer 715
