1986 Jeep Comanche FACTORY Turbo Diesel 5-speed 4x4 RARE

You are looking at a SUPER rare (1-of-only-26 left in existence) Jeep Comanche pickup with the factory turbo-diesel engine. It has a 5-speed manual with overdrive, and gets 35mpg on the highway. The engine runs great, and has lots of power (I think due to the waste-gate being non-functional, so you have to watch the boost-gauge under hard-acceleration, or while towing). I had a Cherokee with this engine & transmission configuration, and it was slow-as-a-turtle compared to this little truck! Unfortunately, the starter just quit working, and the brakes are working poorly, so it will need to be trailered, but the vehicle can be roll-started, so you can test-drive it. I did buy a brand new starter which can come with it. I've got a ton of projects going right now. As you can see, the body isn't pretty, BUT it's mostly surface rust. There are some holes, specifically the floorboards of the cab, but they can be patched easily enough. The unibody frame-structure is very solid though. Since the pictures were taken, I've put some better rims and tires on the vehicle (5-spoke steel wheels with a bit of a deeper-dish offset). They look much better. There hasn't been a single small diesel pickup available for the U.S. Market since 1987, so this thing is super-collectible. There is a place right up the road from me called Mobility RV. They sell anything you could possibly need for this diesel engine, as Winnebago used them in their LeSharo campers back in the '80s. This engine has been recently rebuilt, and should be good to go for many years to come.
