I have a bone stock 1971 CJ-5 it is about a 2 year old frame off restoration. It has a Dauntless V-6 rebuilt about 5k ago. This is the absolute last of the Kaisers. AMC bought them in 1971 but the models were already being built by Kaiser so AMC didn't take over production until 1972 when lots of changes were made. This is a very nice restoration drives and runs like a champ. It also has the rare T-18 factory option 4 speed which has the super low 1st gear. Rare because no one wanted to spend the money back then. Most early CJ's are 3 speeds. Here is a partial list of the items that went into the restoration, I have most receipts. All new 16 inch rims and 7:50-16 Power Kings Painless wiring harness New Rugged Ridge period seats. High Output Alternator Wiper Linkage 4 new stock springs and shocks New full Bestop with doors New stock exhaust system Axles, Transfer and Trans were thoroughly gone through and anything needed or questionable was replaced Full Cover for storage New gas tank New Battery These are the items that come to mind but there are a lot more little things. CJ is ALL metal, No bondo or filler anywhere! Here are the issues that come to mind: Fuel gauge doesn't work, I put a new sending unit in but issue must be in instrument cluster. Heater fan is shot but I have a new/used one from Olympic. Vacuum switches for heater, defroster do not work, need to replace the pod and vacuum lines. I dinged the front lip on passenger fender, it rolled away on me before I replaced emergency brake also bent bumper but I put a new one on. I believe any competent body shop could fix the fender like new without too much effort. That's all I can think of. Lots of pix available. I am looking to work a trade for a really nice newer Gladiator pick-up or a nice 715 that runs really good. I do not want any started projects. lift kits or anything other than stock. We'll figure something out about shipping if need be. I'm not going to give this Jeep away so please consider what your offering.Curt Squier ID Jplug2007 csq4286336@aol.com
