Interior: The cab was stripped bare, sandblasted inside, underneath and outside. All (minor) rust was removed and replaced with new sheetmetal, then every inch was epoxy primed. The pinnacle of this truck is the custom internal roll cage. It is tied into the cab sheetmetal with dimpled gusset plates, and the dash is form-fitted with it. The underside and interior were sprayed with paintable bed liner, then painted in a single stage automotive paint. A Tuffy brand, steel storage console is sunken into the floor and welded in. The parking brake handle is mounted in the console (theft deterrent– set brake & lock console). A custom shifter- console connects the Tuffy box to dash. It houses the trans shifter (Winters sidewinder-gate type), two drink holders, several switches and horn button. Tilt steering column with Camaro steering wheel. Bestop brand reclining seats, mounted to 6-way power bases. The firewall, floor and back of cab have had sound deadening (Dynamat) installed, then vinyl backed carpet installed. New window regulators installed. All new weather stripping. Custom aluminum door panels are covered with carbon fiber vinyl. 6" speakers in door panels. Vintage Air (brand) heater/defroster and A/C unit custom installed in dash. A/C will blow 38 degree air in the heat of summer, and the heater must be on low to keep from roasting you out of the cab!

Exterior: The body is painted (a 2013 Jeep color) “Dune". The hood and front fenders are AutoFab brand fiberglass. The rear fenders are the stock Jeep step-side units (also glass), but have had AutoFab front flares installed (to match the bulged front fenders). Daystar hood vents. New windshield. Tinted windows. Tool box is mounted to the bed cage and is full of spare parts. The bed has been reinforced and mounted solid to the frame. Sprayed with bed liner underneath and inside, then painted to match. Floor had a rubber mat.

Tube Work: Bed cage supports the upper rear shocks. Rear bumper holds the swing-out spare tire rack. Front “pre-runner" style bumper is period correct. Bumpers and bed cage are powdercoated. Rock rails (nerf bars) are frame mounted.

Miscellaneous: This truck was 100% disassembled, The frame was sandblasted, then reinforced, primed and painted. Every single item has been rebuilt, replaced or custom fabricated. It is truly 100% rust free and has better rust-proofing then the factory ever dreamed about. This truck has less then 1000 miles on since the build. It is garaged 95% of the time. It drives far better then it did new, is rattle-free, no leaks and simply fun to drive. A real attention getter.

The Start: Purchased used, this Honcho Sport Side (step side) was in need of repairs. It had the minor rust in the cab corners and floorboards. Delivered from the factory with a V-8, 4-speed manual, nothing fancy, but it was in fact a Honcho, sport side. Rare indeed. The decision was made to completely rebuild the truck. Being the owner of a 4x4 shop, and having experience with over 10 full size Jeep builds (one of which was also a complete frame up rebuild) the challenge was on! This truck has thousands of man-hours, and over 50K in parts and sublet labor for body and paint work. It was just appraised for 45K and I have the paperwork to prove it.
