AMC 232 Hi-Torque 4WD 3SPD Manual Wood Bed
This 1967 J3500 was saved from southern Virginia in 2019, with current registration. It is a 5,000 GVW truck with a 126" wheelbase. The J2000 series had a 120" wheelbase, so the main distinguishing factor is that this is a long bed w a 126" wheelbase J3500. It is the lightest of the GVW J3000 series ever made and has the original stock AMC 232 Hi-Torque engine. The AMC 232 runs very well, and has recently had a new belt, thermostat, reconditioned water pump, new hoses, plugs, wires, radiator flush, oil change, clutch adjustment, carb was rebuilt and various other small items fixed. Closed knuckle front axles!!!!
The Previous Owner (PO) installed the current wood bed. The wood bed is not an original Stakeside. The sale does include, however, the original plans for the wood bed from the builder. The previous owner (PO) painted over the original Spruce Tip Green with the current color. The truck has a wood base bed, wood sides, wood tailgate and wood bumper, but is a true flatbed, with sides and tailgate that fold down and are easily removeable.
It has been registered continuously since 2004. Other than original purchase notes and the original manual from 1967, there is a break in owner documentation until 2004, and there have been three total owners, according to my research. From 2004 through 2019 it was registered with full Virginia inspection (so blinkers, brake lights, headlights and running lights work). It currently has Maryland 50 Year Historic tags, with a clear title I have a stack of receipts from the PO, demonstrating how well it has been maintained.
This truck has very high gearing (not sure but think 4.89), so top speed is around 45mph. Not all dash gauges work. The current odometer reading is 29,074.
The 4WD has been tested and works properly. New poly gas tank with new vent and fill tubes.
Starts right up every time!
Has a manual choke, just in case.
Original keys.
Sold AS-IS!
Price: $12,500
